Sarah Abel, LICSW has been in private practice in Northampton, MA for 17 years, with a focus on treating children and adolescents. She completed both an analytically oriented psychotherapy certificate program at the Institute for Child, Adolescent and Family Studies in New York, NY, and a fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute for Psychoanalysis. She leads a consultation group for clinicians at the Northampton Chapter of A Home Within and is a former adjunct professor of Child Development at the Smith College School of Social Work. She is currently a Teaching Fellow at The Psychoanalytic and Psychodynamic Teachers’ Academy with the American Psychoanalytic Association.

She presented at the National Association of Social Works local and state conferences. She has presented workshops on Parenting Preschoolers and Mindful Parenting at Northampton Area Pediatrics and at Smith College Early Childhood Center and Office of Equity and Inclusion.

Sarah also co-authored the book "Calming Stormy Feelings: A Child's Introduction To Psychotherapy." This book is for parents who are looking to help ease their child to therapy. It is a great resource for parents who want to communicate effectively with children about feelings and child psychotherapy.
